Dr. Naiara Alvarez

Dr. Naiara Alvarez is a board certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. She completed Rheumatology fellowship at the distinguished University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She has served as Principal Investigator of several Rheumatoid Arthritis Research studies and is passionate about Integrative Medicine. Her comprehensive approach to rheumatic diseases is unique in The Rio Grande Valley.

She is skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of all rheumatic diseases, including arthritis, lupus, gout, and connective tissue disorders.

She loves her family, enjoys dancing, traveling and playing dominoes on her time off.

Dr. Luis F. Alvarez

Dr. Luis Alvarez, MD is a board-certified rheumatologist providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions across South Texas. He specializes in treating rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, gout, and osteoporosis.

Dr. Alvarez earned his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic and completed his Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology fellowship at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He also trained in Geriatric Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, bringing valuable expertise in caring for complex and older patients.

At Integrative Rheumatology of South Texas, he offers a full spectrum of care, including advanced therapies through an in-house infusion center. Known for his thoughtful, individualized approach, Dr. Alvarez focuses on building long-term relationships and helping patients actively manage their health.

He is also dedicated to medical education, serving as core faculty for Internal Medicine residency programs and mentoring future physicians.
